Bald is Beautiful? or Just pinching pennies?

Bald is Beautiful? or Just pinching pennies?

Why are all the mannequins bald? As a bald fashionista I could not help myself by noticing that retailers are showing mannequins with no hair. I look around and find myself asking a very interesting question, "Is being a woman with absolutely no hair cool?" The jury is still out! Why? I am a black woman who always finds herself the only bald chick in the room. People comment to me on a daily basis on how great my haircut looks on me. Sometimes I get asked questions if being bald was a choice? I proudly answer, "Yes!" The retailer BEBE features bald mannequins in their windows this season. The only thing is I rarely find a women who is willing to go all the way with cutting her hair off as a fashion statement. Was this an esthetic move by BEBE to allow dress forms in the window of Ivory skin painted hues with no hair? Are mannequins with no hair cheaper than ones with hair? As a woman who choses to make a statement of having no curly threads falling from my scalp I was a little bit curious.

I'm a bald fashionista too!!! I guess there is a trend! What do you think?

Know you Product Sales Associates!

Know your product. I forgot how important this simple saying was until I ventured into a well-known department this past week. This store is known for carrying a featured line from a certain family who has their own show on the E! network. The clothes in this store are very trendy and not meant for any women who wears over a size 8. While shopping at Store X, I decided to try the jacket inspired by  New age Fashion Designer Rick Owens inspired leather jacket featured by Store X. I tried the jacket on and realized how great the fit was with no help from the sale associate who was standing by. Finally, the Sales Associate says, "Isn't that a great jacket?" I reply,"Yes, This is an awesome jacket , It fits great! Is this Lamb skin?" [Lamb skin is from Lamb. Leather comes from mammals]. If you human skin were farmed it would be considered leather too. The Sales Associate then checked another jacket of a different size to see what the manufacturer's care tag instructions were. She then replied,"The tag says it's leather". I then reply, "Oh!" Now I am confused! Where did she think leather comes from? Finally by this point I am pissed yet confused at the same time. "You work at a retail store that sells leather and you don't know where leather comes from?" When I mentioned "Lamb Skin", she should of known what I meant! If I were to rip every piece of my skin off and made a jacket out of my skin it would still be called, " Leather". As the retail price of merchandise in these retail establishments skyrocket, the service and product knowledge declines! I was so disgusted by the lack of product knowledge that I walked out. I made sure that I was not rude because it was no fault of the sales associate. The Sales Associate got the job because she was cute and trendy. Over the past 20 years many retail chains have employed their stores with people who do not understand the product they are selling. The sad thing is, the cost of living is growing and top of the line service is declining.  Retail should be a place where you know what product you are selling. If I walk into a store that sells cell phones I expect that the sale associate to know about cellphones. Why does this not matter about Clothing retail anymore? Why should anyone have to pay $300 for a blouse to get the best service from Sales Consultants.  Why am I mad?
